Steak World Records: Metres, Ounces and an Airport Line
By the Amarone Italian Food & Steak team, a steakhouse in Zielona Góra since 2007

How big can a steak actually get before it lands on a plate, and how long is the longest one on record? We pulled a few numbers from the record books and from big US steakhouse menus - good material for table talk.
The world’s longest steak runs 27.68 metres
The Guinness record for longest steak belongs to France. Jean-Yves Renard and a group of butchers produced a steak measuring 27.68 metres long in Evron on 14 May 2002 - see the Guinness World Records entry. It’s stood untouched for over two decades.
200 ounces on a single plate
The biggest steak you can actually order in a restaurant comes from The Kestrel Inn in Hatton, Derbyshire. It’s a 200-ounce rump steak that takes roughly 40 minutes to cook medium-well and costs £98. That’s close to 5.7 kg of beef on one plate.
Chain steakhouses keep raising the bar
US chains like comparing tomahawk sizes. Fleming’s largest steak is its 35-ounce Prime Tomahawk, sourced directly from partner farms, while Morton’s largest option is its 36-ounce Tomahawk Ribeye. Steak 48 tops them all - its Bone-In Wagyu Tomahawk, made from Snake River Farms beef, weighs a whopping 46 ounces, almost 3 pounds, according to Food Republic.
Philadelphia sets a cheesesteak line record
On March 24, 2026, Philadelphia’s airport took things into its own hands. The team put together a record-setting line of 1,291 cheesesteaks, using 225 pounds of cheese sauce, 990 pounds of shaved ribeye and over 1,200 foot-long rolls, as PHL’s own newsroom reports. The record landed right on National Cheesesteak Day.
What this means at Amarone
We won’t be weighing our steaks in pounds anytime soon, but every cut hangs in our own dry-ageing cabinet for up to 60 days, tagged with its date and weight. Tomahawk, ribeye or Wagyu A5 - the full menu with a short video of each steak is on steqr.pl. Book your table at ul. Żeromskiego 16 online through Tableo.
These steaks are on our steak menu now
On steqr.pl every steak has a description and a short film, and the list shows what is in our ageing cabinet and kitchen today.
