A story in the glass
Whistling Duck Shiraz belongs to Calabria Family Wines, an Australian family business with Italian roots. It connects the country’s affection for Shiraz with an immigrant story that began by making wine for family life.

Francesco and Elisabetta Calabria arrived from Italy and settled in Griffith, New South Wales. Wine initially accompanied family meals after work in the fields, then reached the local European immigrant community. Later generations expanded the business while retaining a story that connects Italian beginnings with an Australian setting and future.
Whistling Duck Shiraz forms one fruit-centred chapter within that story. The importer describes raspberry, plum and hints of pepper and spice, with softly carried tannins. It provides a useful introduction to an Australian interpretation of the grape, exploring juicy fruit against a spicy background without requiring an invented single-vineyard narrative.
