Chunky Red Zinfandel belongs to the Apulian side of Mare Magnum’s world. Behind its emphatic name is a team working across countries, here concentrating on southern Italian fruit and a clear presence of oak.

Takis Soldatos and Mario Calzolari founded Mare Magnum, beginning with wines from several Italian regions. Collaboration among an international team became the common thread, rather than a single estate. Chunky nevertheless has a clear geographical address: Puglia. The Zinfandel name on this label does not indicate a Californian vineyard.
The producer describes dark fruit alongside oak, vanilla and liquorice. American oak forms a deliberate part of that style, helping shape the wine’s expression. Chunky therefore tells a story about an aesthetic choice as well as a place: an ample red whose fruit and texture invite attention at a generously flavoured table.
